In this review, I will tell you about a mechanical mod in the form of a box from Geekvape and called MECH PRO.
This device was produced back in 2017, when vaping was almost at the peak of its development, and no one thought about all sorts of pods yet. The main idea was power and solidity, there was a race for Watts and clouds – it was then that 300-watt monsters with four batteries and box mods that can hammer nails appeared. The device came into my hands after prolonged use by several owners, and therefore do not pay attention to obvious signs of use and not the cleanest appearance – time spares no one.
Geek Vape MECH PRO – packaging
MECH PRO was sold both as a separate device and in a set with MEDUSA RDTA, I have the second case, under the general name MECH PRO KIT. The packaging is made of black cardboard on top and orange at the bottom. new zealand vape shop richmond On the front side there is a drawing of the device, the Geekvape logo, the name and restrictions. On the back side there is the name again, a list of features and characteristics, the manufacturer’s address and once again about the 18+ restrictions, the ban on use by pregnant women and a horror story about nicotine addiction. The sides are painted to look like carbon and do not contain anything interesting except for a holographic sticker with an authenticity verification code (logos do not count, and the color of the device inside is written on the second sticker from the left).
What’s in the box
I can’t tell you anything about the complete delivery set, there were probably some papers and instructions, but only spare O-rings in RDTA, a couple of magnets, a set of screws and a three-way key survived to me.
Design
The appearance of the MECH PRO is frankly brutal: clear chopped shapes of a rectangular box of aggressive red color (DA REDZ GOEZ FASTA!!!) and side pads with a vinyl texture under carbon. The first impression of monumentality is completed by the feeling of a monolithic piece of metal and a solid weight – almost 300 grams without a battery and evaporator. There are also smaller design features, for example, the Geekvape inscription under the beveled end with a button or MECH PRO on the side covers. There is also a slightly protruding strip around the button, which has an exclusively decorative function, and the gas outlet holes are unexpectedly located not at the bottom, but on the side surface, in two rows of small “holes”.
As you can see from the design, access to the contact group for cleaning is not provided in principle, and how you will service it – the Chinese do not care. On the plus side, I can note that for three years of the existence of this particular MECH PRO, nothing bad has happened to the contact group and it (but not the button with jams) continues to work without complaints. Also, the reverse polarity protection is made extremely interestingly, it is mechanical. That is, the engineers organized a slightly protruding plastic rim around the positive contacts: when the battery is installed correctly, the positive contact of the can falls into the recess and connects to the contact, and if you turn the battery upside down, the flat negative surface will rest against the plastic side and contact along with the subsequent short circuit will simply not happen.
For convenient removal of battery cans, the engineers provided a ribbon, for this they are special thanks, you often have to remove the batteries, because this is a mechanical mod in essence and no charging of the batteries inside is provided.
I wrote about the peculiarities of the button operation with different grips a little higher, and here are just natural photos of how the MECH PRO lies in the hand.
Personal impressions
If you get used to the peculiarities of pressing the button and the outstanding dimensions, you will get a very productive and long-lasting (two batteries in parallel and a red color with carbon – decide) mechanical mod for home use, because carrying something like this with you in your pockets is not a pleasure. When choosing the right high-current batteries, you can safely wind the evaporator with almost any, even the most extremely low resistance (personally tested on a winding of 0.04 Ohm), and it will fry heartily, and the reliability of the design has already been tested by time and several owners.
